Help Save the Motherless Cubs in the Totem and Hammond/Mineral King Area
Department of Fish and Wildlife Needs your Help

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife staff have approval to collect the motherless cubs who have been wandering about the Totem and Mineral King/Hammond area for the last three weeks. The cubs are extremely thin right now and need to be helped as soon as possible if they are to survive.

Please contact Jamie Drummond at jamie.drummond@wildlife.ca.gov and bears@3rtogether.org immediately if you spot the cubs. You can also call or text Jamie at 559-977-1998.

It is not certain how many solo cubs are in the community, but both reports and photographs suggest there are at least two. The photos indicate the cub or cubs have “buttons” attached to their right ears. (Fish and Wildlife staff did not place the buttons on the cubs and do not know who did.) Due to their emaciated condition, the cubs may be relatively immobile in a sheltered spot at this point.

Thank you!
