The Bears Have Emerged!

Help Us Track Bear Sightings and Bear-Related Incidents

Our mother bears are now emerging from their dens with their cubs, and Bear Smart Three Rivers just got its first bear-sighting report of the 2025 season! 

A mother bear and her cubs were sighted in the Gateway area. They had reportedly knocked over a grill, a table, and some chairs, and they did not  appear to be afraid of the humans watching them a few yards away. The lack of fear does not bode well for the mother and her cubs.

We need your help! The Bear Smart team is putting together an interactive map of bear and bear-related sightings, along with an alert system that will inform neighborhoods of bears in the vicinity. Please send an email to bears@3rtogether.org if you sight any bears or evidence of their presence (such as strewn garbage). If you see bears, please let us know when you saw them, how many you saw, what they looked like, where they were, and what they were doing. Photos would be awesome, but but keep a safe distance from our bear neighbors.
