What is a Litter-Free Three Rivers Worth to You?

The Bear Smart Three Rivers team recently researched what other communities are paying for certified bear-resistant carts and gathered feedback from the community. Based on the community feedback, the Bear Smart Three Rivers team is asking the county to fully fund certified bear-resistant carts for trash and recycling.

• Three Rivers contributed $2.8 million in transient occupancy tax (TOT) to the county this last fiscal year. 
• At least 75% of the trash distributed by bears is from visitors, not residents. 
• Other unincorporated communities in California receive free certified bear-resistant carts.
• Our community and our bears are worth the investment.
